2000 Highlights: After finishing 2nd all-around (novice 3) at the Ontario provincial championships, Ward qualified to the novice high performance programme with a 4th place finish at Elite Canada, announcing her arrival on the national scene.

2001 Highlights: With a 3rd place all-around at the Canadian Championships in the Novice High Performance category, Ward was named as a member of the national youth team. She ended the year in grand style, taking 1st place in the all-around, vault, beam, and floor exercise at Elite Canada in the junior high performance category.

2002 Highlights: Ward sat out the Canadian Friendship Tour meets, but displayed strong work elsewhere, winning the Scarborough Retro Boogie invitational meet as well as the Elite Ontario junior high performance title. A few mistakes at the Canadian Championships dropped her to 5th all-around in a very strong junior field.

Ward offers a refreshing
beam style

Ward's gymnastics: Ward is an engaging and elegant gymnast, whose style sets her apart from many of her competitors. Much of her style can be credited to coach Saadi, whose previous international contenders include the USSR's Tatiana Groshkova and Canadian Olympians Yvonne Tousek and Crystal Gilmore, all of whom made an impact with their innovative repertoire of skills and choreography. Her top class difficulty on most events rivals many of the Canadian seniors and wows audiences whenever she competes. Her strongest events are the balance beam (where she tumbles a back handspring to full twisting back tuck, a layout-layout series, and an impressive two power back handsprings to triple twist dismount), and floor exercise (tucked full-in, 2 ½ twist to front layout, and whip immediate triple twist). Not age eligible for the 2004 Olympic Games, Ward has already mastered many of the skills she will need to be competitive when she becomes a senior in 2005.
