Adam Wong had a remarkable career at the junior level, winning four consecutive all-around titles at the Canadian Championships from 1999-2002 - twice in age group categories (under 15 and under 16), then twice at the high performance level (novice and junior). He also got a very early start to his international career, competing at the Vienna Invitational in 1999 and the Peter Vidmar invitational in 2000.

In 2003, Wong’s strong performance at the Canada Winter Games gave him nation wide exposure, featuring prominently in TSN’s television coverage of the event, where he finished a close second in the all-around, but helped his Alberta team take gold in the team event. He also dominated the apparatus finals. He finished a strong seventh all-around in his first year competing at the senior level at the Canadian Championships, and also made the Canadian Pan American Games team. Also that year, he won an all-around gold at the the OBI Junior International meet in Germany and competed for the last time at the junior level with his team at the USA-Canada-Germany tri meet in Burlington.

In 2004, Wong made a rapid rise at the senior level, competing in Greece at the Olympic test event where he qualified for the all-around final and two apparatus finals; an unfortunately ankle injury during the all-around final forced him to withdraw from the remainder of the competition. Wong recovered quickly however, finishing fourth with his team at the Pacific Alliance Championships in Honolulu, fourth all-around at the Canadian Championships in Mississauga and qualifying for the Canadian Olympic team, where he ranked as the top all-around competitor for the team.

In 2005, Wong affirmed his Olympic all-around position by winning the all-around title at the Canadian Championships, matching his previous achievements at the junior level.

2006 has been a busy year internationally for Wong. He helped his team win the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, and also picked up an individual gold medal on the floor exercise and finished fourth in the all-around. Wong also participated at the Pacific Alliance Championships, earning a silver medal in the team competition.

Wong led the all-around after day one at the Canadian Championships in 2006 in Quebec City, but dropped to third overall after day two. Wong will look to compete in his first world championships later this year.

Adam’s gymnastics: Wong has seemingly no weak events. On floor, he combines intricate combination work (whip-2 ½-front full; a back 1 ½ punch front rudi) with strong individual skills (front 1 ¾, layout Arabian 1 ¾; full-in last line). His impressive strength work on rings includes an L-cross pull to Maltese bounce to cross. On parallel bars he throws a peach ½ peach to Belle combination, a Morisue, and a double pike dismount.
